A Mommy and her boys

Playing, diapers, learning diapers, feeding, diapers and growing…one day at a time!

Potty Training July 5, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — harrisonandmommy @ 3:43 pm

It is going SO well.  We started on Thursday and he has only pooped in his diaper once and that was over night last night and then he has peed a few times in his diaper instead of telling me he needs to go.  He is rocking it, though.  He says “Mommy, I potty — POOP!”  And off he runs to the bathroom pulling his pants down on the way.  He is hilarious.  And, yes, we are bribing him.  So far so good!  Oh, and having a half-bath on the main floor is great for this.  I can’t imagine having to run up the stairs quickly every time he has to go!

Sterling is doing really great too.  So cute and fat!  I LOVE having him in his own room.  It has been great and a lot easier to sleep for me.  I swore I would never have my kids sleep in my room, but with the amount of family we have been having we used his room for them.  Sorry, family, next kid gets their room right away!  We’ll have to figure something out.  Sterling is trying his darndest to roll over.  He is a funny one and he LOVES to laugh!

I didn’t know if this would ever happen. July 1, 2008

They are both asleep in their own beds at the same time.  My house is clean.  My laundry is all caught up and folded.  What should I do with myself?  Nap.  Yup, that’s probably what I’ll do!  Or, I could start the curtains for the kitchen…hmm….

Here’s a few pics!

Sleeping… June 17, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — harrisonandmommy @ 12:04 pm

Sterling slept from 12 to 7 last night!  And he had a quick drink and went back to sleep!  I gotta say that I really enjoy sleep :)  Of course I’m hoping this is the beginning of a trend, but I’m not holding my breath :)

Father’s Day was okay.  Brian doesn’t really get into Father’s Day, so we didn’t really do much special.

Yesterday I went to a playgroup and it was great to meet normal mommies!  I found them at www.meetup.com it is a great site to meet people in groups that are interested in the same things as you.  I run a photography group from there and I found the mommies group there.  We had fun!  Harrison made some friends.  There was a little girl there born the same day as Sterling.  She was almost 11 lbs yesterday.  Her mom couldn’t believe they were born the same day.  Sterling is almost 17 lbs.

I have a new calling in church.  I am 1st Counselor in the Relief Society, which, to those who aren’t Mormon, that will sound weird.  The Relief Society is our women’s organization for just us women.  I am just going to be helping in the organization and running of it.  I am in charge of education.

Harrison was in nursery at church on Sunday and they had substitute teachers in there and both of the teachers came up to me separately afterwards to tell me how polite Harrison is!  Woooo hoooo!  All of that work on pleases and thank-yous is working.  They said he also cleaned up all the time and just was a great kid!  Yes!  At the mommies group yesterday the moms were saying the same thing about him.  And now that I think about it…he does say pleasek, thank you and your welcome more than any other kid I’ve heard his age.  I just drill it into him.  He doesn’t do anything without saying this properly.  Also, Brian and I have always made a point even before having kids of making sure we say please and thank you to each other — it may sound silly, but we don’t want to get out of the habit and take things for granted, and we wanted our kids to be polite.  It’s working!

Oh, and on Sunday after the first prayer Harrison finished it with a VERY loud resounding “Amennnnnnnnnn” everyone laughed…I’m sure I turned red.  He loves to say prayers and can almost say his night time prayers by himself, he just needs a little help, and he always loves the “amen” part, but this was way too loud and rambunctious!  It’s a good thing he is so cute!

Hmmm…that’s it from here!  I was going to end with pictures but I don’t know where I put my camera!  Oh well!

Life… June 5, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — harrisonandmommy @ 4:33 pm

I am SO enjoying being a mom of two.  They both get cuter by the day.  I am finally managing two almost as well as I was handling one!  It is way harder, but it is worth all of the smiles I get and the giggles from both of them.  At about 10:30 at night Sterling is wide awake and VERY talkative.  He loves to giggle, smile and chat with Brian and I.  It is such a precious time just the three of us.  Harrison cherishes his mommy and daddy time too.  He LOVES to follow daddy around no matter what daddy is doing.  And while I’m in the kitchen making dinner he has to play at my feet.  I am learning to cook/bake whilst dodging tupperware and Hot Wheels.  Harrison is getting so smart it is fun.  We are going to the zoo this afternoon and I can’t wait to hear all he has to say about the animals.  He is great with Sterling.  If Sterling needs his sucky Harrison is the first one to run over and give it to him.  He is so funny “Terling…I’m coming…sucky”.

We still can’t believe we have two sometimes.  It is crazy.

One big thing…pun inttended…that I’m working on is losing baby weight.  I’ve lost all of my Sterling weight.  I didn’t lose my Harrison weight though before I got pregnant with Sterling.  I know this is a battle that a lot of women have and I’m not going to whine all over my blog about it.  This is just my blog, my life, and this is something going on right now in my life.  I am LOVING my Wii.Fit and I’m trying to go on walks with the boys.  Today we will be walking around the zoo all afternoon and I’m looking forward to that.  It is eating that is the problem, I think.  It seems that I hardly eat anything during most of the day and then from about 3:00 on I eat.  And then I keep eating.  Well, I’m sure most of you don’t care about this, but this will plague me for another 70 lbs.  Yup, I have at least 70 lbs to lose.  And that is my realistic goal.  According to the chart at the doctor’s office I would have 100 lbs to lose, but I don’t think I could ever get to that weight…in fact, I haven’t been that weight since high school.  I looked amazing when we got married and that was 70 lbs ago, so that’s my goal.

Well, that’s life.

I will leave you with some pictures since the blog was a little depressing!  Please ignore my huge butt in the Wiifit picture — proof I need to lose weight!

Some of you may remember a pictures almost identical to this of Harrison.

He LOVES to color.  Even when he makes a mess I still love to see him coloring!  For church we have the Colorwonders so he doesn’t look like this on Sundays LOL.

Go Brian! Go Brian!

A little step aerobics!

Mr. Harrison is 2!! May 30, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — harrisonandmommy @ 11:31 pm

Well, Harrison’s actual birthday wasn’t very exciting.  Brian had to work and then had to be at the church until late.  We did manage to get in about half an hour on the webcam with the Grandmas and Grandpas while he opened their presents.  We got him a little pool with a slide for outside but we haven’t had a chance to open it and show it to him yet.  Tomorrow was supposed to be his birthday party with his friends but he has a super runny nose and we don’t like to share our germs so I had to cancel his party.  Hopefully we can do it next week or the week after.

Here are his stats from his 2-year check-up.  He is just over 25 lbs and he is 36″.  While in the doctor’s office the doctor, who we just LOVE, asked if Harrison was starting to put words together.  Right at that moment he says “I can’t reach it.”  I said to the dr, “Does that answer your question?” LOL.  He is so smart it is crazy.  He is speaking in sentences for the most part and it is so fun to hear.  He can count to 5 and almost all the way to 10 but he won’t do it for anyone but me.  He likes to sing Popcorn Popping and he likes to sing his “CBs” (ABCs).  He will tell you how old he is and he says his name if you ask him.  Although, he is hard to understand when he says his name.  He says “Sisson” and Sterling is “Terling”.

He is so much fun to play with and watch him learn new things.  I love it.  And dang he is getting cuter by the day!  I still can’t believe I have a 2 year old!  Here is his 2-year-old picture!  The studio wants to use it in their promotional materials — fine with me!  :)

Sorry!!!!! May 26, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — harrisonandmommy @ 1:38 pm

Okay, everyone, I’m SO sorry I haven’t posted.  Here is what’s going on:

Harrison turns 2 tomorrow.  CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?  I can’t.  We are going to get his 2-year pictures done tomorrow.  Yes, I’m a professional photographer, but I just find it easier to go somewhere now.  We are loving a place called Studio One-to-One.  He also gets his 2-year check-up tomorrow.  I guess he gets a prick on his finger the dr said.  Harrison is talking up a storm.  It is so cute.  I need to get him on video talking.  He loves his “little bruder terling” (Little Brother Sterling).  Harrison is so smart too it is amazing.  Of course every mom thinks that, but really, he is smart!

Sterling turned 2 months yesterday.  Can you believe that?  I can’t!  I swear I got out of the hospital only last week.  He has pretty much got his days and nights figured out.  We have the odd night where he is up in the middle of it, but he is doing really well.  He has found his hands and loves to suck on his fingers.  He is trying to roll over but hasn’t done it yet.  He is really starting to ‘talk’ more too and it is so cute!  Love it!

Why haven’t I blogged in so long?  Okay, I’m launching a new business website, so I’ve been working on that.  It will be up tonight so check it out www.dbimages.ca.  That has taken me quite a while to do.  Also, we are trying to figure out ways to get more business for the photography business, so we have been focusing on that.

They released me as Young Womens President a week ago from yesterday, so that has been a bitter/sweet event.  I miss the Young Women, but I love being able to focus on my boys more.  So I spent two weeks ago getting everything ready to give to the new YW President.

And, well, we have just been trying to adjust to two!  It is SO fun.  I love it!  Okay, here are some pictures for you.

I took this yesterday — isn’t he the cutest baby boy ever?

Poor Brian is so tired from working.  Here he still in his work clothes and he and Sterling are asleep.

Yup, more sleeping daddy and Sterling!  This is a common sight around here!

Some of you may remember we have a picture of Harrison sleeping with Inde, well, here is Sterling and Inde.

Wow… May 15, 2008

Life is so crazy right now I haven’t even been able to find time to blog — how awful!  It just occurred to me yesterday that I haven’t blogged or read blogs in a while.

I will post more about our life later, but here is a picture for now!

Here is the announcement — I finally finished it today and he is already 7 weeks old — goodness me!

I thought I would post a couple of pictures so you can see the giant baby!  I like the one where he is sleeping because you can see he is just a big chunker!  I love the other one because he was wide awake having a bath and he is SO cute!  Oh, and check out the pictures under July 2006 to see that he looks just like his big brother did!

We exist… April 30, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — harrisonandmommy @ 3:58 pm

Wow…life with two is WAY harder than just one!  I think we are starting to figure life out.  This is my fourth time trying to write this lol.

They are both sleeping right now, so I’m going to try and get this updated!

Sterling is a great baby.  He only cries when he is hungry or getting his diaper changed or has gas.  Nursing isn’t going as well as it was.  I’m not producing enough milk anymore, so he nurses for a few minutes and then gets fussy becaus there just isn’t anything in there, so I end up giving him formula.  Poor guy.  I am going to call the lactation consultant today.

He sleeps from 12:30 to 4:30 and then until 7:30 or 8:00, so I’m doing pretty good for sleep.  He still sleeps in his carseat (thanks Jamie and Sharon for that little tip!)  He will nap in his crib in the morning for his morning nap, but that’s about it.  We are working on it.

Harrison is still doing really well.  He still likes to help “terling” as he calls him.  Harrison also talks NONSTOP.  He is speaking in sentences and it is so fun to hear things like “I can’t reach it.”  “I need help, please.”  He is a good little guy.

Our house is slowly getting together.  The main floor is pretty much done, except the kitchen and bathroom need more paint, but it is look really good.  Harrison’s room is almost done.  We are getting there.

Here are Sterling’s 1-month stats.  The doctor says he is doing really well.

This was on April 25th, Sterlin’s one-month birthday.

Weight:  13 lbs, 14 ounces

Height: 23 inches

Head: 15.5 inches

He is wearing size 3-9 month clothes, depending on the brand.  Well, I would love to post pictures, but I have to have a URL for them, so that means I have to post them to my website first and then link to them — HOW STUPID.  Any other ideas?  :)

I feel really good.
