A Mommy and her boys

Playing, diapers, learning diapers, feeding, diapers and growing…one day at a time!

wow…the countdown is really on May 11, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — harrisonandmommy @ 11:16 pm

I just got back from the doctor’s office. I am measuring 45 centimetres — ha ha ha! But, the great news is I didn’t gain a single pound this week! Woo hoo!!! The doctor confirmed that the baby has dropped for sure — I thought it had, considering things just *feel* different. She is sending me for an ultrasound on Monday to see how big the baby is and what my amniotic fluid level is.

We are really hoping for a Mother’s Day baby. I’m going to try all of the old wives’ tales starting Friday night and going into Saturday. Maybe that’s bad, since I’m not officially due until the 21st, but we are ready for this baby!

Bring it on!
If you have any tips on getting this baby outta me — pass them on!!!!!!!!!

I started trying to “induce” labor myself 2 weeks before the due date for my daughter. I went power walking, bowling, hitting golf balls at the driving range, etc.

I didn’t actually induce the labor – BUT when I went in to be induced 2 days before my due date (I had been borderline hypertensive during pregnancy and then developed preeclampsia.), I was dialated to a 4 and was 75% effaced. So, I think it helped.

I’m planning on doing the same thing this time – with the walking and bowling and such. And I’m starting two weeks before the due date again too. lol

    Good luck!

Castor oil; sounds disgusting and tastes pretty bad but I guarantee you drink a small bottle and you are done. Trust me it works and fast.

  3. Anonymous Says:

Read up on Castor Oil first though!
It doesn’t induce labor at all. It cleans out your body like a laxative and also makes most women puke. The thought of Castor Oil and it being hard on your stomach is that it will create contractions since your body is in shock. It’s very, very painful and being sick is no fun, especially with a belly that big! If you decide to drink the Castor Oil, don’t plan on leaving your bathroom for two days after you drink it. (At least you wouldn’t poop while pushing if you do this!!)

What worked for me, lots walking and sex. My doctor insists that there isn’t a single at-home inducing method that works for sure. If your doctor wanted the baby out she would strip your membranes but that is quite painful too and there is no guarantee that it works either. I’ve heard of women getting their membranes stripped and then still no baby for two weeks.

    Good luck this weekend

Thanks for the comments! I am avoiding the castor oil. I am not THAT desparate to get this baby outta me! Walking and sex (sorry to my family that is reading this!)…that’s what we’ve decided will be going on today and tomorrow in hopes for a Mother’s Day baby! Doctor says she is not worried at all about this baby coming this weekend, in fact, she said she will be at the hospital for sure all weekend delivering, so she would love to see us there! I tried the raspberry tea thing last night and it didn’t work. I could just let this baby come when it wants, but I’m impatient LOL. Thanks for the tips!

  5. Sandra Says:

Well, sorry to family again, but I did the nipple stimulation the night before Joshua was born. That seemed to work for me! lol..

Are dilated at all yet? I was already around 3 or 4 cm at my 37 week checkup.

We get an US on Thursday.

  6. Devynn Says:

I don’t know if I’m dialated, we didn’t have time to have the dr check yesterday, Brian had to get back to work.

  7. Emmakirst Says:

Nothing worked with this baby! I was plugged up tight when i went in for an induction. I tried everything the others posted (no castor oil though, YUCK!)

45cm! wow you are ready! hope she comes soon 🙂

  8. Anonymous Says:

UHHHHHHHH that’s not the experience I had with castor oil AT ALL, sory to burst your bubble. AND for raspberry tea to work you are supposed to drink a lot of it over a good period of time, it doesn’t work just because you drink it once. Good luck with the sex!

  9. Anonymous Says:

If your baby isn’t ready there is absolutely nothing you can do to hurry it up, short of a medical induction. Sex only works if your cervix is ripe. Castor Oil apparently works if your body is already having contractions then the bowel contractions will add to the real contractions. You are going to have to wait it out.

But 45 cms?? You need to add a new picture. I can’t believe that! How are your stretch marks?

  10. Devynn Says:

I should add a new picture, I’ll try and do one tomorrow. My stretch marks are horrible. They are nasty! They are REALLY itchy, but nothing compared to what they were earlier on. And I’m not going anywhere near castor oil, I promise! I wasn’t sure how much raspberry tea I’d have to drink, but I like the walking and other idea a lot more 😉

  11. Chas Says:

Oh you’re plenty close enough to start trying those old wives tales. I read several girls’ blogs that ate eggplant parmesan just before going into labor…try that.

  12. Kristi Says:

I’ve had many friends that have tried the castor oil and had success, but I’ve also heard it can make one very sick. I was never brave enough to try it. I think you’re smart not to go that route. I too have heard that Eggplant Parmesan can bring on labor and also eating loads of pineapple can do the trick.

  13. Emma in Canada Says:

It’s not the sex but the oral sex with the more powerful orgasm. Make him do a little work to get the baby out!

This from a woman who had three inductions. Sigh.

  14. Janet Says:

You are HUGE!!! but hey…it makes ur legs look really tiny so that’s good i guess! I am sooo excited to see (not so) little peanut a month from today!!!

  15. Janet Says:

eww!!! I jsut read all of the nasty sex tips….sick devynn!! You are just as dirty as sandra…
