This one is for all of you out there, but especially Kiki who always wants more video of this handsome dude!
Gestational Diabetes January 28, 2008
All right, so I met with the GD nurse and have all that I need to figure out this GD. So I have to take my blood sugar levels five times a day — not so fun. I HATE needles. BUT, I’m doing okay with this. It isn’t really bad at all. My levels have all been within the range that they need to be except for my fasting ones (the one first thing in the morning, and I’m not sure why they are higher). The diet thing is fine. The only real change is that I have been forcing myself to eat at regular intervals. As far as what I have been eating, I have just cut out sweets for the most part. I still cheat a bit and my levels have been fine. The nurse explained how I should be able to do that and it seems to be working. I just have to have one less serving of carbs at dinner or whatever if I want to have a small dessert. It is working right now. I also have to go in for regular non-stress tests every week. I’m not sure exactly how that is going to go, or what it is really, but it will be fine. I know they hook up monitors and stuff, but that’s all I know. I need to get a babysitter on those days or there is no way my stress tests will go well 🙂
Also, because Harrison was a C-section, this one will be too now. I meet with the drs next week to confirm everything, but looks like I’m having another C-section. I was really hoping for a VBAC, but moreso hoping for a healthy baby 🙂 The nurse said that at 36 weeks they will do an ultrasound and if the baby is over 8 lbs they will schedule the C-section.
Looking for a new apartment/house. We need something bigger and we started looking again online last night and there are LOTS of bigger and nicer places for less or what we are paying, so looks like there will be a move and a new baby within a couple of weeks of each other — hopefully the move comes first!
30 Week Picture January 25, 2008
The first part of the picture is me pregnant right now at 30 weeks. The second part is me at 33 weeks with Harrison.
I meet with the diabetic specialist today. I’ll let you know how that goes.
Crap… January 24, 2008
Well, I redid my glucose test at the normal time you should, the others I did were for early testing, and guess what? The numbers were so high I don’t have to do the 3-hour test…I have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. Oh, Poop. I meet with the perinatal diabetic specialist tomorrow. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Oh, and we may have found a house 🙂 More on that later too…
False alarm…thankfully January 22, 2008
Well, the contractions continued through the night but spaced out by about 4 this morning. Brian rented Ratatouille for Family Home Evening last night and we splurged and ordered in a pizza. It was fun. I didn’t make it all the way through the movie because I was taking baths throughout the evening trying to get the contractions to stop. Hopefully I’ll finish it today. What I saw was really cute.
I’m trying to get recipes organized and start buying some food in bulk to start making meals ahead of time to put in the freezer. It was such a big help when I did that with Harrison that I really think I need to do it again with this one. So, if you have any ideas for good recipes that will freeze well, let me know!
Harrison went down for an early nap this morning because he was up at 1 this morning. He came into our room, crawled into bed and asked for a drink. We got him a drink of water and he curled up next to Brian and was fast asleep. He hasn’t slept with us since he was brand-new and that was only because I was too tired to put him in his crib a couple of times after I nursed him in bed. I think it only happened twice. We moved him back to his bed about an hour later. Little guy was just thirsty! When I woke up he was snuggled into Brian as tight as could be and they were both snoring away. Poor Brian had Harrison curled up on one side, our fat kitty Inde on his pillow on his head and then one cat on his other side and one on his legs. He was covered in animals and people. He doesn’t seem to mind it, though.
We have two new additions to our family that I haven’t really blogged about yet. Sam and Six. They are brother kitties. They are all black and if they don’t have their collars on, you don’t know who is who. They could be twins. They are about a year old and very rambunctious. They are SO cute! They have extra toes on all of their paws. They are so fun!
Well, we have found some more houses that we really like. Hopefully we can move on that soon…
Well, I’m going to post more pictures in this post. Some of the kitties, some of our first trip to the zoo, and just some cute ones of Harrison!
They are always looking out the window at geckos or sleeping on each other. So cute!
We found him sleeping like this one night. How do you fall asleep like this? And how many toys does one boy need in his bed? He is always hauling more toys in his bed to sleep/play with.
Spikey doo is back!
These were the biggest Flamingoes I have ever seen. Maybe they weren’t Flamingoes, but they were pink and they stood on one foot. They were probably 5 feet tall. Crazy.
I pooped him out at the zoo!
Shannon was wondering if I was alive — I am!
Sorry for the lack of posts. My parents have been here visiting and it has been a LOT of fun. I really miss them so it was great to see them. Harrison became quite attached to his grandma and grandpa. It was so much fun to have them here. We went to Seaworld and it was a lot of fun. Harrison likes to pet the dolphins and he wasn’t too keen on petting the stingrays this time. It was overcast and it rained a bit, but it was a lot more fun than in the hot Florida heat and sun.
I can’t believe I only have 10 weeks left in this pregnancy. My mind has been totally on having this baby. I also would like to be in a house before the baby gets here.
We are trying to prep Harrison for this little addition. He knows mommy is having a baby. He knows what a baby is. I don’t think he has put the two together yet, though. Harrison made a bear at Build-A-Bear for himself and one for the new addition that he can give the baby when it gets here. We have SO much to do before this baby gets here. Of course, with Harrison being our first, we had the carseat base installed in the car, the nursery was ready, my hospitals bags were ready, we had outfits washed and ready. We don’t have anything ready. I just don’t know where we are going to put a baby in this apartment. I am starting to work on baby blankets and such for this baby. My mom and I made one and it turned out really cute. We also made a quiet book for Harrison for church. I had purchased the pattern around Thanksgiving and was glad to finish it. I am also working on a flannel blanket that you crochet around the sides. I have several of those I want to work on.
Anyway, here are some pictures. Oh, and I’m having contractions and they are about 10 minutes apart…this is WAY too early.
Oh, and I know I shouldn’t be so hard on myself about being so big, but when I saw the walrus roll over on the stage at one of the shows I said “Oh, that’s what I feel like at night.” I really do. I am bigger than I was with Harrison. It is hard to feel pretty or cute when NOTHING you own fits. I am quickly running out of clothes to wear. I’ll have Brian take a 30 week picture tomorrow. Enjoy the pictures!
Harrison was waving like crazy at the Shamu character, so we had to take a picture! Oh, and if you didn’t figure it out, Shamu, the real one, is on the right 🙂
My parents and us at Seaworld.
Photo spot! I am so big. I hate looking at pictures of myself…but enjoy anyway!
Harrison playing the steel drums! He LOVES them!
He fell asleep during the Shamu show. It was the last event of the day, so I thought this might happen!
Here I am actually sewing — we had to get evidence!
Grandpa sprained his ankle really bad and would soak it while he was here. Harrison thought he would give him some company. How cute!
